چکیده

The hard switching operation of the insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT)-based multilevel converters (MLCs) in transformer less direct integration renewable power plants produces a considerable amount and conduction loss. This eventually causes higher junction temperature lower thermal stability. symmetrically designed MLC using third harmonic sixty-degree bus-clamped pulse width modulation (BCPWM) technique demonstrates reduced losses better spectra. However, development analytical loss model is complex challenging issue due to discontinuous mode IGBTs for BCPWM MLC. In this regard, an calculating average rms currents antiparallel diodes (APDs) with proposed. Furthermore, calculate device turn-on turn-off losses, discrete form equation presented evaluate transition times more precisely. numerical values APDs found from derived equations are compared simulation experimental results. results agree well simulated outcomes, which validate proposed model. Moreover, advanced three dimensional impedance chip-wise interdependent multilayer coupling effect also considered paper realize critical loading condition devices.

A Multilevel Converter-Based Universal Power Conditioner

This paper presents the development of a control scheme for a multilevel diode-clamped converter connected in a series–parallel fashion to the electrical system such that it can compensate for deviations in utility voltage (sag, surge, and unbalance) and act as a harmonic and/or reactive current source for a load. New carrier-based multilevel pulsewidth modulation techniques are identified to m...

Hybrid Z-Source DC-DC Converter with ZVZCS and Power Transformer Resetting: Design, Modeling, and Fabrication

This paper introduces a novel two transistors forward topology employing a z-source to achieve ZVZCS and power transformer resetting for various applications. Comparing with the forward converter, this topology has the advantage of displaying ZCS condition with an added Z-Source and no additional switches when the switches turn on, and that ZVS condition happens when the switches turn off. Duty...

Asymmetric Multilevel Converter with Reduced Number of Power Electronic Components

Abstract: This paper deals with asymmetric multilevel converter with a single source that can produce greater amount of output voltage waveforms with a reduced number of power electronic components. The power electronic switches play a very important role in designing a multilevel converter because they define the cost, installation area, circuit size and complexity. MOSFETs are used as switche...

Thermal Power Density Barriers of Converter Systems

With the desire to integrate power converters into larger systems, high power density became a very important issue. In this paper we discuss the thermal limits of the power density of converter systems. It is shown that these limits are partly given by today’s technology and partly given by physics. Employing the given equations, one can quickly estimate the maximum possible power density of a...
